eFlow charge for car I don't own anymore

In December my car was rear ended and declared beyond economic repair. The assessor/ins company put a guy in contact with me who took the car for scrap. He told me that all I needed to do was sign the logbook for him and he'd liaise with the insurance company to sort paperwork.

Now today I get a letter from eFlow saying I used the M50 on the 11th which was obj this dude driving the car to his garage in North Dublin but I have no proof that the car isn't mine!

    What can I do?

Did the guy issue you with a receipt? Is the guy a private seller or an actual dealer?

A dealer and no, I stupidly forgot to get a receipt off him.

Same thing happened to me when I traded my car.The dealer never changed the car over to the garage name and made a few trips up the m50. Needless to say I got a few reminders from eflow, but I called them and sent in a copy of the receipt from the dealer. I've heard nothing since....

I sold a car in August and signed it over to the new owner.
Because he didn't send in the VLC to change it into his name I have received hundreds of euro worth of tolls and fines.
I contacted eFlow and they said that because the car is still in my name I will continue to receive bills, but not to worry about them.
They also said that the new owner is liable, not me.
The Motortax office advised me to fill in a declaration of change of ownership (they will email it to you if you contact them), and request a 'ceased to be owner' letter from them so you can send it to eFlow.
My case is still ongoing, but it at least looks like it will be resolved before long.
I now know that it is the seller's responsibility to fill in the new owner's details and return the form to the Motor Tax Office.

    Hope this helps.

Aside from the fact that you have no proof that the car was transferred (ring Shannon to confirm), eflow could well have made yet another mistake - apparently that have made one or two before!

Yes you should never do this, always send it away yourself, it's your legal responsibility to, not the new owners.

What about when you trade into a garage, who's reponsibility is it?

I think I've just signed it and given it to them every time I have traded in, but I take a copy of it for my records.
