Is anyone else going to see this?

Yes, this was probably only made to mark the death of Ricardo Montalban, but it should be interesting to see some proper special effects and good acting in Star Trek. Although that could take all the charm away and the whole thing could backfire. Maybe they should have made a special effort to make it look all vintage and low-budget? :p Oh, the days of watching TNG and DS9 on Sky One of a Sunday morning.

But come on... Simon Pegg as Scotty? This I gotta see.

Star Trek has always been about going forward, not backwards. With this new trek, Paramount are returning to the old crew to cash in on their iconc cultural status for a quick buck. Their stories have all been told. Looking at the trailer, the film feels like a version of that tripe Thunderbirds movie a few years back. The new trek film should have been a new crew, on a new ship, something post Dominion war- imagine some of the space battles from ds9 on a movie scale.

    Looks great.
Really can't wait to see what some of the cast have done with their characters.

Don't like the look of the guy playing Kirk though, I sense he will be a big dissapointment.

I really am sorry but Yawn, this was the same old line that was trotted out before Enterprise
Great idea that was let down by bad casting and even worse scritps
Manny Coto was bringing it to life in the end

Trek was never about going "forwards" it was about exploration (so your big space battles really are out of place, even though movie audiences demand it)

Kirk et al had very little back story, seeing as only 3 seasons were made.
Why can we not see how the characters were formed, how Kirk became fast friends with Spock and Bones. How Bones and Spock had a love/hate (irrational as Spock is a Vulcan? yeah right) thing going on
