Is your bios etc up to date i dont know if that will help but it might ?

Have you changed or installed a new Hard Drive or Optical Drive recently? For that matter, any new hardware at all?

Look on the bright side, your motherboard is still alive..

Remove all your cards and see does it boot, sound etc, a process of elimination.. to find a likely suspect.

Keep your mind open.. it could be the card reader.. do you keep any cards in any of the slots while the PC is booting? They could be f***ing up the boot order.

Unplug the card reader and see how you get on.

Have you tried loading failsafe defaults in BIOS ? Then add your sound card , card reader , other devices one by one .

Resetting BIOS defaults worked for me on a Dimension PC that had a similar issue (though I could just hit F1 to proceed rather than CMOS reset) . Never figured out what the cause was :(

HD's and other IDE devices are maybe jumpered wrong . Or BIOS is configured wrong .
