I got CoH on CD and had loads of trouble getting a game online going (gave up trying). Is it any different when it's through Steam? I'm confident that it will be better, but I've nothing to back that up with.

STEAM + DOWII + (NAT Errors X GFWL) = FAIL

    Even collecting underpants didn''t work.

    Plagued by nat problems...

** What Ports do I Need to Have Open? **
See the following Microsoft Support article:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/908874
    TCP 80
    UDP 88
    UDP 3074
    TCP 3074
    UDP 53
    TCP 53

list of ports that need to be port forwarded in order for xboxlive to work correctly.
(if xbox live doesn't wokr, dow2 doesn't work)

Sounds like an unlikely solution but it seems to have worked for me and some others getting constant NAT errors.

Go to Internet Options/Properties from IE or Control Panel, connections tab, then LAN settings - make sure automatically detect settings is checked.

This is epic fail i mean seriously how can a games developer make the same mistake twice? Plus why the hell did they choose GFWL its so very very bad probably the worse interface iv dealt with and just generally annoying why couldnt they be smart like Creative Assembly and use steams server system!

yeah, it seems daft considering steam is there. Steam is vastly superior not least because it is completely free.

I know its probably the most least hassle free method of organising online games in the world at the moment (L4D aside) yet DOW thinks Windows can do it better? Windows Live is a joke and shows yet again how out of touch Microsoft are with online gamers.
