Not a 100% sure but that shouldn't affect your money she's not related to you.

Sounds like you have run out of "Stamps" -ie you have used up your PRSI contributions for Jobseeker's benefit (which is not means tested), and now you will be assessed and means tested for Jobseeker's allowance.

If you are living with your girlfriend, the SW treats you as a couple, married or not. Hence taking her income into account. You will have to bring in details of her income and they will then assess you to see if you qualify for the JA, and if so, how much you will be entitled to.

Think he meant living with his brother and his G/F?

You shouldn't of said she was your G/F.

You are cohabiting that is why it stopped and if you get rent allowance you wont get it any more once you cohabit you are not intilleled to rent allowance at all

sorry thegame I wasnt getting at you I was annoyed that so many posters were suggesting that you lie. ;)
If you contact your local CWO you may be able to get funds to tide you over. I do hope you get this sorted out soon.

On another note why are the mods tolerating posters encouraging the op to lie?

Well, we're not, it sounds like he hasn't lied, yet they are presuming he is co-habiting, and thus stopping his payment.

I have a real problem with the co-habiting standard that the social welfare set.

I mean, if the government is willing to treat co-habiting couples the same as married couples to determine their social-welfare entitlements, why then don't they treat them the same as married couples for their tax-breaks? It's a complete racquet and only serves to entice people to be dishonest with the government in a tit-for-tat childish squabble, started I might add by the guys in charge.

There is no assumption, the fact is that they ARE living together. you encouraged the op to lie because YOU think its wrong. my question is why the do the mods of this site ignore the fact that you (and others) encouraged the op to lie and therefore commit fraud?

Can anyone give me an idea of how much effect living with your girlfriend will have on Jobseekers allowance. I can't make head nor tail of the info i'm finding on citizensadvice and welfare.ie

Basically, my g/f takes home about €400 per week and I'm wondering what sort of effect that will have on my weekly Jobseekers allowance payment.

As far as I can make out, the standard payment would be c. €130 if I was not co-habiting, is that right? So what effect will the €400 p.w. have
