Gas Heating Thermostat Stuck?

    Hi all,

My apartment is heated by gas and there is a thermostat on the wall in the hall to control the temperature. There is a metal switch that is controlled by the thermostat and just recently this has been getting stuck. i.e. When I set the timer for the heat to come on, it won't come on unless manually "pushed" on. Also if I turn the heat on it stays on until the thermostat switches it off, but then it won't come on again until I manually push this switch back on myself, no matter how cold the apartment gets. I can see that the thermostat switch light is on which means that the heat should be back on.

    Any ideas?

    Cheers
