You can subscribe to discussions in a social group. They will then show up at the bottom of your CP. Open up any discussion in a social group and go to discussion tools.

You can't subscribe to an entire social group AFAIK.

There is a feature to subscribe to the entire group, not sure what, if anything, it does though.
