Last minute skiing...

I went skiing for the first time last year, we booked well in advance, and put our own package together (flights, accomodation, etc...)

However, this year, we're thinking of going on a package, because the deals when booked at the last minute seem really good (prices starting at €250 for seven nights half/board.... when booked the week of the trip....)

The plan is to go for a week in early March.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice/suggestions on this.

Has anyone booked a last minute ski holiday? Have they had any difficulties? Any pitfalls to avoid?

Thanks in advance for the advice....

This is definitely the year to do last minute deals, everywhere had great snow.

I did a deal a few years ago, where I rang my travel agent on Thursday (after a big dump) and asked what was available that weekend. I got a really cheap deal, but the downside was that I didn't know where i was going until I got there. I knew the country and that there would be space for the three of us who were travelling.

Got to the airport in France and discovered that we were going to Valmorel (which I'd never heard of at that time). Turned out to be a great holiday, staying in a half board chalet with people who were really pissed off because they had paid three times what we had.

I booked 10 days before i went last year, five of us went and we got a 3 bed apartment, flights & transfers plus 6 day ski passes for 270 each in Andorra. No complaints at all it was great for what we paid, plan on booking a week before we go again this year.

    Hi guys,

Can I ask, who are you getting these last minute deals from? A few of us who usually book early are trying to get a cheaper deal by leaving it as late as possible. Aiming for week of 21st Feb but we've been pricing current last minute deals and it wasn't looking promising so it wuold be great if you could advise on who does good deals.

I used directski.ie last year, had no problems with them and will probably use them again this year.
