    Hi everyone,

I'd be grateful if anyone could help me, got a ds lite for Christmas and have professor layton on it. I read somewhere that the weekly puzzles can be downloaded over WiFi. Now I'm using a 3 mobile broadband modem for my internet and the laptop has a WiFi light on it which I have switched on, but I'm still useless at getting it set up. I've tried searching for an access point on with the ds but it doesnt pick up the laptop connection,

Have I got things totally backwards? Could anyone point me in the right direction??

    Thanks!
    TH

    Hi
I've only done this with a BT Router.
But that was just a case of entering the long code(around 15 digits) that's found on the sticker on the underside of the router. I know in some other systems (Eircom for instance)this code is on a sticker on the manual of the router.
    Good luck with it.
Btw the extra puzzles for Prof. Layton aren't ongoing. There are a few about 20-30 I think but you won't continue to get new ones all the time. Still worth a shot connecting though. The WiFi is good for Animal Crossing too:-)

I think you can get wii/ds/xbox etc online with 3g (mobile Broadband) using a UMR, a router designed for 3g. There is a BIG topic on here about UMR, Dovado in particular. I cant verify whether it works or not as I dont have one, but feedback in the forum looks positive.

What way do you have the security on your router ? Is you SSID broadcast, if not you won't see it ? Also you cannot connect if you have your security set to WPA2 I think it is.

As far as I can understand you are connecting to the internet via a 3G USB dongle in you laptop?

Well the DS can not see the 3G signal so what you could do is share this by creating an adhoc wireless network which will be broadcast by your laptop. This is pish easy with a Mac but assuming your using windows this should help you out:
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/adhoc.mspx#2

Since you only want to do this to download the weekly puzzles for Prof Layton this should be fine (don't try and play Mario Kart DS online this way I think it oulw be unplayable) you can assign a simple SSID and leave out any security BUT make sure you turn off the adhoc network once you are finished downloading the puzzle(s). It only takes a minute or two and you don't want to leave the connection and your PC open to anyone sniffing networks.

You have now reminded me I think I am a fortnight behind on the weekly puzzles ...
