I bought an airsoft Ak47 last week from the store with no name (someone Pm'd me and advised me to edit this) Anyway, I have been having a great laugh customising its exterior to make it look an old Russian model. Scuffing it up and stuff. I might post a few pics soon. Anyway here is a useful link I found on how to customise your AK, specifically how to make the wood look real. Im sure this will work for other airsoft models with imitation wood.

Im sure you substitute real wood for the pistol grip and the foregrip. But the stock contains the battery pack so it might be tough.

Here are some pics of My AK. I scuffed up the metal using steel wool and a nail file, I also added the rust around the bolts with acrylic paint. I used system 3 acrylic paint for the wood, I mixed burnt umber with a small bit of ultramarine. I used one coat of standard wood varnish to finish it. I added a serial number to the bottom of the stock in blatantly handwritten yellow acrylic, as I had seen this feature on a photo of an old Russian AK and I think it adds to the authenticity. The whole process was thoroughly enjoyable and there is huge scope for creativity when it comes to roughing up the gun.

Did the same with a cyma ak, plastic receiver though so I just painted it.

The plastic wood can be made look really convincing with stains and varnishes.
