Dole Expirying?

Hi,

So you can only get the dole for so many days or one year right?? Well what happens if you've been on it for a year - actively seeking employment but was unable to get a job?? Do they cut you off or are you re-accessed??

Nope they don't cut you off, unless you miss signing on or you get letters from them but don't go.

Once your Job Seeker's claim has been exhausted (credits run out), you can apply for Job Seeker's Assistance. This claim is means tested, so your partner's earnings, your parent's earnings (if you are under 25? and living at home), savings etc are taken into account.

You are written out to prior to your JB exhausting, to advise you to apply for JA as these claims take longer to assess.

JA is the same payment as JB isnt it??

The rates are the same but JB is based on stamps and is not means tested.

They didnt write out - just stopped it.

So when this happens do you just apply for JA and hope it doesnt take too long??
