Hi do-re-mi I've been in the IYC for the last two years! The standard would be high enough but i'd audition regardless as it's a great experience! The music is mostly leaning towards classical - year before last we did Bruckners "Te Deum" and last year we did an a cappella programme called "From Darkness to Light" with these songs:
    Ave Verum Corpus William Byrd
    Salvator Mundi Thomas Tallis
    Crucifixus Antonio Lotti
Komm Susser Tod J S Bach, arr. K. Nystedt
In Beauty May I walk Jonathan Dove
    Alleluia Randall Thompson
Lake Isle of Innisfree Patrick Larley
And So it Goes Billy Joel, arr. Chilcott
Joshua fit the Battle Moses Hogan

It's a very intense week of rehearsals but great fun! if you have any questions feel free to ask! :)

Thanks very much- I only know a few of them :(

If you went by grade standard, what is the average grade at the moment in the choir? Im studying for grade 5. I personally dont think id be good enough but want to expand my musical cv and the IYC sound really good.
    Appreciate your help :)

oh you dont need to know any of them before you start!! if you get in you'll be sent out the sheet music and a CD to start learning the songs a few weeks before and you spend the entire week learning the songs! I'd say if you're studying it then you should have no problem at all!! definitely audition!! I had no experience except singing in other choirs - no exams or anything! theres people with degrees in music there and theres people who just sing like me!
