    Hi folks,
Parents are buying a camera over in Spain at the moment and asked me to price two cameras for them; The canon 450D and 1000D. Forgive me but I dont know much when it comes to buying these type of cameras. I had a look on Komplett and found two different types of 450D and one for 100D but I am unsure the differences.

    Canon EOS 1000D Digital SLR,EF-S 18-55mm €429

Canon EOS 450D Digital SLR, Body €487
    Canon EOS 450D Digital SLR, EF-S 18-55mm €599

    Any assistance appreciated! Thanks.

the difference between the two 450D's is that one comes with a lens and the other one doesn't, hence the higher price of the second one.

If they haven't got any lenses then you need to buy either of these

    Canon EOS 1000D Digital SLR,EF-S 18-55mm €429
    Canon EOS 450D Digital SLR, EF-S 18-55mm €599

If they are complete beginners then the 1000D should be perfect for their needs.

So really the 450D is a better camera and the 1000D is just a beginners camera?

Look at the specs for them. They are both beginners cameras as far as I am aware but there must be some difference to justify the €150 difference.

No DSLR is a Beginners Camera. They may be Entry Level DSLR's but they are still serious pieces of Kit.

They will work OK set to Auto but it's quite a waste.

    I think the 7

I disagree, they are most definitly beginner cameras, surely entry level is the level for beginners??? It's what people start with in the slr world, and to start is to begin.

I guess it depends on what you define as being a Beginner. I was thinking of something just a step up from a P&S, like a good compact or bridge.

These models, like the Nikon D40/D60 would be where a lot of people start with a DSLR.

I guess it's all bad terminology.

Still both good cameras if you are looking for a DSLR.

I see the 7dayshop have a clearance on Canon 400D Body only for £279.00
