Anyone know of an experienced motorised satellite installer in the Galway area or prepared to do so in the area. Looks like new 36V motor needed after the weekend's storm. thanks

Did it destroy a Diseqc motor or a 36v one ?

One of the lighter 36V ones. Been up there since 2004 so has been thro a few storm. Survived last bad one in Jan 2005 but the dish didnt that time! I fear the gears have gone as its 'stuck' fast. Motor is pretty weathered now too.
Diseqc ones are just too slow and not an option here in the windy west!

I'm actually amazed my Motek Diseqc (from Satellite.ie years ago) with 1.1m Triax survived. Still aligned and working. The shaking of it was frighting to watch. The 80/95cm fixed dish with 4 x Quattros was more stable.

I was undecided between putting up a Diseqc motorised 1m dish or a T90 dish but the winds at the weekend have made up my mind.
I thought the big bad wolf was going to blow the house down and I dont trust any motor even a 36v one to withstand that abuse.

You should be ok with a Channel Masters (now Andrews) dish and a 1224 super mount heavy duty motor - I think they weigh 17 kg

ive said it before and ill say it again......Where do you have your dishes installed? High or low? The lower and sheltered the better. Mine is on the ground about 1m off the ground and i can see 42e-at least 40w.

Perhaps there is a reason why you have yours installed where it can get all the abuse the elements throw at it. But if you can, get it put in a sheltered position.

No option - it has to be just above gutter as bungalow has hip roof and that wall faces south, if lower down it couldnt track the full arc. Believe you me Id love to have it in a sheltered spot. Short of sticking it on the front of the bungalow thats only place it can go.
