    just watched this film last night enjoyed it,but could people be minuplitated like it was in the film ,just a thought

    short answer: yes.
    you just need to find people who feel the need to identify with or be a part of something, as you saw at the end of this film organizing these people into a clicky group can have an awesome power and cause unsuitability in some members if they get to into it. hence why your man pulled the gun when the leader tried to disband the group

    If it's the German film you're talking about then it's based on a true story, so yes.

    It's happened all through history to different degrees, from religion to the Manson Family.

    I was going to question this but Wikipedia claims that both the film and the novelisation of the earlier TV-movie that I remember reading in school are based on a real incident in a California school. That said, it appears to have been poorly documented which is a shame. It's on a par with the Milgram experiment in terms of revealing uncomfortable aspects of human behaviour, and therefore the more information we have about it the better.
