I know a couple of people here have mentioned in the past that they have been involved in organising society outings. Have you any advice on getting good deals from courses?

I would be grateful for any tips on courses that offer good deals to societies or if clubs are open to a bit of haggling in the current climate?

(Society is made up of people of all abilities, looking for courses mid week, within an hour of Dublin with green fees in an around €50 a head)

The list of courses that meet your requirements is longer than those that don't tbh.

Within Dublin, Elm Green - sub €30, Castleknock - €60, Corballis, Lutrellstown - €60, Corrstown €40 down to €30 depending on group size, Roganstown, are all in that broad range

Balbriggan Golf Club will be launching their redeveloped 18 hole course in early May. Their prices have not gone up and may be well worth a try.

    Thanks Lads,

Will definitely check out Roganstown, Corrstown and Balbriggan.

The other part that is essential is a decent clubhouse where people can get a bite to eat and maybe a drink or two...

Would advise going to Athy for society golf particularly early in the year as it takes rain very well. The food is very good and green fees are well below your budget. Greens are in super condition even after the bad weather.

elmgreen is not up to much as golf courses go - very boring, up down fairways etc
clubhouse is crap, staff can be well rude as well at times
