Gatorade Sports Drink

    Hey,

When I was in Australia last year I always used to buy the powered Gatorade Sports Mix, which you could mix with water to make a Sports Drink - was cheaper than buying it by itself each time, or also you could make it as strong or sugary as you liked for the extra calories.
So far I have yet to see this or powerade substitute around.

Does any know if you can get it anywhere in Dublin?

If not what do other people drink on the bike - assuming I am out for 3.30 hrs I want to take in some substance and it would be handy if it was in the drink - any advice.

    Thanks

Cycleways stock some stuff in a red tub. I can't remember the name of it.

    Sometimes I use Nuun

I use Nuun too myself. Not seen the powdered Gatorade in Ireland though.

However, snack_ie -I'm actually in NY at the minute (I fly back tonight), so I'll have a look see if I can find some powder and bring it back for ya if you want :)

This is alright stuff - http://www.slanecycles.com/productdetail.aspx?id=687&subid=336&catid=73 you can get in around dublin. There's a few other about. I only posted that link cause thats where I bought it.

If you are in Dublin, 56 Degress North (think thats the name), stock it.

The best thing about the drink is you can make it up weaker just for taste.

wheelworxbikes in clondakin had a good range as well - was there yesterday.

    make your own much cheaper
    • 1 can/glass orange juice
    • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
    • 1 tablespoon lime juice
    • 3/4 teaspoon salt
    • water

That stuff on Irish Fit looks like what I used to use - Thanks very much.

Ill have a look in Boots in town next time I am there.

Tiny Explosions - Thanks for the offer, really sound but dont want to put you out of your way so dont worry about it. Hope though that you paid a visit to RA Cycles while you are in NY. And are bringing back some goodies for yourself.

potassium aint in table salt. Maybe losalt or potassium chloride could be used. Orange juice has some potassium but not sure if enough to have a good balance of sodium:potassium.

Didnt realise lemon juice and orange juice contained so much potassium so the above recipe would be fine.

Nuun rocks, it's all I use and you can buy it by the box online a lot cheaper than in shops. I haven't been able to find Gatorade anywhere around Cork...

How much water exactly? Is this to taste or does it make up a liter?
