    Hi everyone

Looking for some advice on ski rental lift pass etc. I’m off to Livigno Saturday but haven’t booked my ski pack. We’re going with Budget travel and the ski pack was an extra €300. That sounded a lot. They told me that covers ski’s, boots, lift pass, ski school. If I wanted to get my own ski pack how would that work out. Also, when you get your ski’s and boots do you leave them back to the shop at the end of the days or bring them home?

€300 is probably not too bad for everything actually, but they will give you the option of buying them all together or seperately on the bus transfer anyway so you cen just buy the bits that you need.

Once you have picked up the skis/ boots you then have them with you for the week, but either the place you are staying in will have a ski room somewhere or you can sometimes find lockers at the bottom of the nearest gondola where you can leave the skis over night and your regular footware during the day so that you don't have to walk to the lifts in your boots.

    nice one Robinph...

do you know how much ski sckool costs on its own as a matter of interest.

any suggestions on what to do when we get there? its going to be around 13.00 by all accounts so we're missing out on a days skiing . Priced the skidoo's but their like €35 per person sharing one skidoo.. Wouldn't mind getting some activity in rather than hitting the pub.

Well it won't be 1300 by the time you get there unless you land in Italy at like 8am or something. Plus the buses up to Livigno take ages because they have to fill them. It's a very busy resort tour operator wise.

You should never expect to ski on the Saturday you arrive with going with a tour operator.

Before I recommend where to get your skis, where are you staying? We've always rented from Livigno Sport beside Marcos or there was a branch up in our apartments. If you are going with Budget Travel you might not be in the same end of the town. It's quite big.

As for lessons, I always got my lessons on Doss 18, that's where Panorama send you. I always found them good. I think it's probably about €120-140 for 6 days of lessons, 2 hours a day.

Let me know where you're staying and I'll see if I know where it is and see if I can recommend anything.

    great stuff tywy..

we'll be staying in the Marco Galli apartments, not the ones over Marcos bar apparantly. we're staying in a place called San Rocco if I'm not mistaken.
Our flight is 6.45 on saturday morning and i think its 2.5(3) hours.

at this stage we have only booked package without the ski-pack. The ski-pack was an additional €300's but i'm begining to think i should have just bit the bullet and went with it? or will it work out cheaper sourcing skis/boots/lift pass/ski school yourself?

You can get your skis in Livigno Sport 1 then if you want. It's right next door to marcos.

I've always found them good. The ski school you can use if you want is across the road from Marcos near the Hotel Lac Salin... it's on Doss 18. I've always found them good.

Your flight is a 645am Irish time. Which is 745am Italian time. You'll inevitably be delayed (sorry) always the same with charters. So I'd say you'll be lucky to be on a bus by maybe 11.30 - 12. It's a 4-5 hr transfer with a half hour stop.

Ask on the bus where the ski hire shop is for your apartments. If it's ski technic, don't use it as they are awful. If it's Livigno Sport 1 you may aswell just book on the bus. Same with the lessons... it does save a bit of hassle. There's no difference in price for the lift pass and it saves you going to the lift station so maybe that's good too.

You can buy the learn to ski pack on the bus for € 300. Its a good price. The ski hire will probably be close to where you are having lessons. So I would take it.
