    Hi

Currently i have my aerials going into my sky+ box, then i have a 4 way splitter that carries the terrestrial signal and sky to all the other rooms.

I am just wondering how i will get DTT around the house. Will it be aerial back into DTT box, then into sky+ and the same setup as now or will you need a seperate connection to the aerial for each room with a separate DTT box in each room?

Getting ready for Meaghara to get updated, whenever that will be!!!

Why do you need terrestrial television if you get your Irish TV through Sky?

Incase someone wants to watch sky movies and i want to watch champs league on a tuesday night on rte.

The plan is to get rid of sky eventually and should have freesat boxes around the house and also terrestrial.

Just like with Sky, for every TV you want to have showing a different channel you will need a separate box, so that's one for every TV except the one where the Sky box is.

Think of the DTT box as directly replacing the the analogue tuner built into the TV.

Thanks. Thats waht i was thinking alright, with the box directly conneced to the aerial.

This could be a lot of fun!!!

I think what he is planning is to have two channels distributed around the house. One for Sky and one for DTT. This makes sense to me as long as he can change the DTT channel from another room via wireless remote signal sender or something similar.

That way he has a choice between two channels on multiple televisions with only two boxes..

Was trying to figure that out myself slegs!

The four way splitter is just splitting the Aerial feed, unless each TV has a dvb-t mpeg4 tuner, you would require a set top box for each room.

Would it not be cheaper to use a RF modulator ?

I would imagine that DTT boxes will be cheap enough so that buying one-per-telly will be less onerous than wiring several TVs to share the same box. But then I'm a big fan of the lazy way out.

Yes, I was assuming of course that the DTT box in question had a modulator built in to allow the channel to be RF distributed which may not be the case....

Also, I wouldnt assume that DTT boxes will be under 100eur in 2009. There is no sign of these prices dropping quickly considering that the UK isnt on MPEG4 and even France only use for HD

The best route, IMO, would be to simply buy one per telly, as BeerNut said. Maybe do it gradually, startign with most important and slowly adding other boxes.
