Hi. I'm planning on going on a J1 to New York for the months of June and July this summer. I'm really worried about sorting out housing. I heard that many places fill up by mid March for the summer months. There are approximately five/six of us travelling together. Sharing rooms is perfect. Having everyone in the same apartment/suite is preferable. We're looking for very cheap because we're broke. Price is most important. Any info on good places to stay would be brilliant and much appreciated. Thanks. Elena :)

Craigslist is your best bet, get a house/apartment in Queens/Brooklyn and you should be alright, there's plenty of Irish neighbourhoods there.... it might be difficult to get people to give you a place without meeting you so if you don't get something before you go, don't worry, most people don't, you'll find something while you're out there easy enough.
