wondering if anyone here has encountered this?

running x64 vista on my laptop and it's been off the last week or so and tonight I turn it on and check for updates only to get this error code back.

threw it into google and I get some stuff about resetting permissions and reinstalling the microsoft update 3.1 but I get conflicting reports as to whether it works or not.

another 'solution' was to run a vista upgrade or such but again, no solid confirmation if works.

    help?!

    Hey,

I went and googled which dlls to register but it wont let me register most of them. I get errors.

Will post up screen of error box when I get a chance.

Ran the WGA diag tool and my vista is validated so I dunno wtf is going on. No updates in a week now.

you will probably need to reset the acls on it and take ownership of the files

Sorted the ownership and the like but no luck with WU :(

Might try the 'upgrade' fix I've seen...failing that I'll just re.install
