Hi- does anyone have a good, experience based recommendation for somewhere in Connaught (preferably Mayo, Galway, Sligo) that offers really good quality, professional waxing- brazilian, californian etc., something akin to the standard in Brazilia or Urban Wax in Dublin? Have had so many disappointing.. and scary experiences and Dublin is just a bit too far to travel to get the waxin done

Hi Guys, :o Sorry to gatecrash in on this one, but I am wondering EXACTLY the same thing!!! Why oh why can other places not be as good as Brazillia or Urban Wax. If anybody knows of where in Sligo is good I would be eternally grateful.

By the way, Bellissimo in Galway (Elizabeth) is quite good also.

Having pretty much given up on Sligo unless you guys can offer some inspiration, is there anywhere very good in Ennis????? (I will be passing through this week, and a girl's gotta try.......)

I have tried a few places in Sligo, it's sligo I'm looking for preferably but I really cannot say I have found anywhere NEAR as good job or professional as aforementioned places in Dublin, one place I truly believe the person (proprieter) is not trained but 'winging' her way through it- brazen! Not pleasant. if you hear of anywhere let me know!

Okay, what we need is a nice long list - every county in the country. We've already got a start!!! Preferably 2 venues in each county. I know that there are 1 or 2 good specialist waxers in Belissimo in Limerick also...... but can't remember names.

Dublin - Brazillia and Urban Wax (Still out on their own)
    Galway - Wish and Belissimo
    Limerick - Belissimo

Come on gals, we can do this - how do we get this thread noticed???!! Or do we start a brand new one going for the country-wide thing?

Belissimo? in Galway? Really! I have never heard anything about them at all... i did get tan done there once and it was good tho!

I went to Angel at the bottom of flood st, that place came recommended to me but it was very sore.

Think il google that place in knocknacarra now...

In Galway definitely Wish - i've tried a few different places and it's the only one that does a proper hollywood - and i hardly felt it - honest!!

I just had my first Brazilian wax today in Westend Beauty Salon, Sligo. I was so nervous but thankfully the beautician (Grace O Brian) was very professional. It honestly didn't feel as bad as I thought it would. I was going to travel to Dublin to have it done because I thought there was nowhere good in the Northwest. I will be going to Grace again. You can also book an appointment on-line through the Westend Beauty website. Very handybiggrin.gif. I hope this post helps as I couldn't believe there was no waxing specialist in Sligo town. Now I know different!

The last time I was in Brizillia I was complaining about the same thing and they pointed me in the direction of a website http://www.lycon.ie/- all these salons use the same wax which I think is virtually painless.

Through that I finally found a waxer in Mayo that is similar to Brizillia- they are based in Clairemorris in the Mcwilliam hotel, web http://www.karmabeautystudio.com/
I had tried a few more around castlebar and oh. my. god- the pain was unreal:eek:

In donegal, in letterkenny I found a good enough place called 'blush' when I was up there for work.

It's kind of mad that there isn't a salon in Galway that exclusively specialises in waxing like brizillia or waxperts- waxers there is a def business opportunity there :)

Vivienne in Belissmo in Galway does a great brazilian.
DO NOT go near BeADiva-was in there in November, girl was a rude biatch, the room she used was filthy and the wax was s hite. I did write a letter of complaint-i got a reply about how clean the place was and how well qualified she was bla bla bla but sorry it was filthy.

went to be-a-diva once, and only once, for a wax. They were appalling bad. I was in agony afterwards and had bruises that took a week and a half to fade. They don't have a clue what they're doing.

I'd have to agree; butchers not waxers methinks. But then it wouldn't be the only place in Galway where the standard of specialised waxing is appallingly bad:rolleyes:. It's only when you experience the likes of Urban wax/Brazilia you realise how shocking most places in Galway are.

FYI the girl who was the good waxer in 5th avenue now has her own place at the back of Hair republic in Westside. I only discovered this recently. She's actually pretty good too, prob one of the best in Galway and very nice aswell:)

Thanks MR, having lived in Dublin and used Urban Wax before moving West, I was pretty appalled at the standards in Galway. I tried a variety of places where I invariably left with the "my bikini line has been mugged" feeling.

Funnily, just as I was about to give up all hope I went to the girl you mentioned above. Super nice, very professional and I would have no problem recommending her to anyone.
