has anyone taken it in the last few years? i'm just wondering what sort of things I should expect, is it just a run of the mill aptitude test or are there specific bits like mechanical reasoning needed? are there other things because I have heard that there is an essay, should i read more on other architects? and have a couple of points ready about why i like architecture and stuff? in general.... HELP

It's base on a German Aptitude test and is not marked by architects but those who are marking are looking for certain artistic qualities. Parts include sequences and series, an essay about yourself and eight to ten small drawings!

Hope this is of some help and best of luck with it!!

When I did it back in '98 (I assume it has not changed since then) It was a very small area that you had to sketch with a simple shape you had to incorporate into the image (no other restrictions) eight all together

Google JC Ravens Progressive Matrices, thats the aptitude test that they used when I sat it, about this time 3 years ago, graduated last year:D, I was doing it for Arch. Tech, but it was the same for both courses, tests take place at the same time, then there was an essay about yourself and why you want to do architecture iirc.
You're then given a page with 10 squares in it, all the squares have a different element in them, dots, lines etc., you have to incorporate these into your sketch within the box.
