    Hey how's it going people,
I was just wondering is the gym up and running again? I'm a graduate who was using the gym before the inferno and I've not been out since, so if anyone knows if the gym is open, it would be a big help to me. Thanks.

I seem to remember getting an email about it being open again. I'm sure usual exam time restrictions apply until late January though

Yes, it's been open since Monday last. But you have to enter through the yellow side doors on the right-hand side of the building, as you approach from the arts block. The old main entrance is still surrounded by safety fencing.

Yeh, been in there a few times since it opened again and everything is operating nicely. No heating or proper equipment or proper changing facilities but did it ever have that? :D

Cheers lads and lassies, I went today was a little confused with the whole new entrance buzz but was the same as usual. Tho I see the bikes still have no straps...

I was just wondering what sort of condition the swimming pool is in...and are there changing rooms in the actual pool building itself?

    Any feedback much appreciated.:)

Of course they're in the pool building! How the hell would it work if they weren't?? The swimming pool is perfectly fine. It's small but dressing rooms and showers are clean. Showers are also ridiculously good. Better than my shower at home :)

As for straps on the bikes, the gym is a **** hole. But what do you expect, funding for that sort of thing is very low priority in NUIM.

Are you serious? The gym is top quality, particularly the free weights room. Minus the changing rooms its the best gym I've ever been in and its free! (or very cheap if you have to pay).

Yep, it's about the size of trinity gym but for half the population.

And UCD's isn't much bigger either and its not in the best shape. You don't realise how lucky we are to have a free gym and not have to queue to use weights/machines.

How many gyms have you been in? The dressing rooms are shabby. So is the gym. Half the equipment is in a very poor state of repair. The cardio equipment is limited. Calling it top quality is ridiculous tbh.

Just under ten I'd say. I disagree with you though, what machines are in a bad way? You'd be surprised the amount of gyms that don't have the essentials like a squat rack and or a cage, we have both. I couldn't ask for more (bar new changing rooms, but will take a good gym thats free and take my shower at home any day).

I'm only letting this out because i'm finished in Maynooth

The handicapped shower is ****ing class..........

Why bother with that? The dressing room right down the end of that corridor past the small sports hall is the best. No one uses it either.

Well now everybody knows about the super secret vip changing room...

Bha now everyone knows about the super secret dressing rooms  but only 3 out of the 4 work.

Best showers are the sports dressing rooms (like for Soccer and Rugby) on the outside of the sports building but cant get into them with out a key card bha

But to be fair they replaced the heads and the showers I have taken there where good unlike the year before where you had to rape the wall to get any water on yourself.

Haven't been to the college gym since it the fire, heard off my house mate there was no hot water is this still the case?

yeah the water is still cold, tho I like this gym well due to the freeness mainly.......tho I should pay
