    Lads and Lassies,

Listen I'm considering getting rid of my Sky Plus box and my subscription, and get a my viewing card for Setanta subscription. So I was thinking of getting two boxes - a DM 600 PVR and a DM 800 PVR HD. However trying to find a decent supplier to get some information from or to find somewhere that doesn't look as if I'll have charges on my card in Pakistan within minutes.

If anyone has any experience with these boxes, I'd like some feedback on them or if there are some credible alternatives I'd like to hear from people.

Thanks in advance lads and lassies.

German sites are usually the cheapest place to get them

    search idealo.de

    heres one site:

    http://www.satserver.de/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=1967

    http://satserver.de/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=21_189&products_id=1600&osCsid=a647f589c7b33da89dcf0d2824a794b8

    theres also abcom ipbox's

    http://www.smartcard24.com/abcom-ipbox-350-s-pvr-prime-sat-linux-silber-a3760.html

i bought a dreambox a couple of yrs ago from smartcard24 and they were good to deal with

or you can go for dreambox clones, which seem to be no different than the originals. I site I know has the dreambox 600s for 112e before shipping!

but there 800hd clone seems to be sold out

do you really need an 800hd or any hd box? seeing as all your going to get is BBC HD and ITV HD which barely show a thing worth watching

Well that's the thing like I got reccommended a Dreambox as being a good box, so I'd like to get a HD box for the sitting room, and make best use of the telly there. I think it mentions in the charter about not discussing hacking etc so I decided against mentioning card sharing etc.

[ed by Mod. But you have. So thread locked.]

I would hold off on the Dreambox 800 as I believe it suffers from overheating and in some cases literally "cooks" a smartcard in it.

The box I'm holding out for is the QBox HD which runs Enigma 2 and is half the price of the twin tuner Dreambox 8000. If these boxes can read the cards a Dreambox can I would go for that. I'm not at all into card sharing so all I really want is a box that gives me access to the channels I pay for and allows me to store recordings on an external PC and allows for internal streaming.

The dreambox is a Hobby/Enthusiast system rather than an ordinary household setbox. It's NOT a good setbox at all in normal consumer/viewing sense of the word good. It's "good" for modifying.

Card sharing at all is illegal in Ireland. Receiving subscription/encrypted channels with out the authorised card and official payment is illegal/Criminal in all of the EU including Ireland.

Suggesting that a particular system could be used for "card sharing" could be construed as assisting in "Theft of pay TV service" in Ireland, which is also a criminal offence.

The Dreambox is NOT a credible alternate for Setanta/Sky subscription services for most people. It's a niche product for users more interested in fiddling than watching. The main market is payTV theft, though it can be used totally legitimately. I know an Enigma developer and why he was developing it.

It does work with a legitimate Sky card if you know exactly what you are doing.
