Hi, as per the title of this thread, I am looking for a good and comprehensive for understanding Hamiltonians.

On the course where we were meant to cover them, we didn't. I am now finding it difficult to understand some papers which are using them to solve intertemporal optimization problems.

    Any got any recommendations?

Very long ago since I did that stuff, I'm afraid, but I seem to recall that "Mechanics" by Symon dealt with Hamiltonians, and was a generally approachable book.
