Missing wheel brace, 00 ford escort

I got a puncture last night and when I went to change the wheel the wheel brace was missing. Luckily I was near a friends house so he came to the rescue. It is a 19 socket that removes the wheel nuts.

Where could I get a replacement wheel brace easily?

Any motor factor or car accessory shop should have them. Try to get one of the extendable ones, very handy. I got mine in aldi or lidl a couple of years ago. Served me well, but not for sale very often.

Halfords to a Draper extendable one with a reversable socket for 2 wheel nut sizes. think it's only €12.

+1 on extendable ones, great invention and really should be standard in cars because the tyre places sometimes over tighten them with the air guns and you dont realise until your on the side of the road!

They're also handy cos they have a 1/2 inch drive and you can use them for tough jobs like exhaust nuts!

    Never knew that!
Wouldnt fancy unbolting the exhaust on a wet dark night on the side of the road though, is there an exhaust equivalent of tyre weld! :D

If I remember correctly the genuine Ford brace was suprisingly cheap from the dealers - 3 or 4 quid. Not sure if that is still true. But they are fairly crappy anyway.

However the extendable one is the way to go. Just remember that the "extend" mode should be used for loosening nuts only, not tightening them. That's if you want to be able to loosen them again at any time in the future !
