Hydration Belts

Just trying out one of my Christmas presents on a 20km run this morning.
Powerbar hydration belt – the one that holds 4 x 250ml bottles and has a small Velcro pocket at the front for keys and money (or in my case a small packet of gummy bears).
So I stuck in a power gel topped up with water in the front bottles and plain water in the rear.
Overall I found it very comfortable – although I moved it outside my top after about 5kms as I felt it chaffing. I have never used anything on training runs before and once I got into a routine (take a sip, then 6 breaths and another sip) it was quite easy to free the bottles have a little top up and replace them.
Felt like I had a little extra zip over the last 3k – time will tell whether that is real or psychological.
**Anyone else like to share their experience with using water, gels, whatever during training runs?**

Copied and pasted from word - is it ok now?

    Yep it's grand :D
I personally would have no experience with drinking while I run, I usually stock up in the few hours before I go out, and then rehydrate after, but it certainly sounds like it could be of benefit :D

I use one of the Nathan belts with the single big bottle. I find it quite good but I think the ones with the four small bottles are better.

Having said that Id only use it for long (10 mile+) runs in the summer......Id be more likely to want a warm chicken leg than a swig of water in this weather;)

I've got a nathan belt with 4 bottles. I only use it when running over 15 miles. Never feel like I need it otherwise to be honest. Especially in this weather. I know the experts completely advise against doing long run without hydration/fuel but...

I use a Nathan Elite 1 Plus, for 13+ miles, and for longer runs would carry a sports drink and a gel (18+ miles). Works great for me!

I use drinks when I'm doing anything over an hour. If I'm doing anything over 90 mins I use gels as well. I always use a carb drink as they're easier on the stomach than water. I'm using a Solomon belt that takes a 500/750 ml bottle and two 100ml ish size bottles that came with the belt. I take one of those along when I'm using the gel. It takes a bit of practise to get drinks and gels right but definately makes a difference in the last third.

This is somethingi was going to post, the loop i'm using is about 5 miles on grass, so once i start going to 13+ think I'll need to pick up one of these for my longer runs.

Thanks for the post OP, as I'm building up my mileage i was wondering what the best solutions would be for hydration and have a few things to go on now.

Have a Kalenji belt which i got in Decathlon in Paris for 12 euro. They are just a brillant sports shop. 4 bottles, 4 pouches for gels and a zipped pocket. Don't know if they do sales via the web though.

So good, you had to say it twice!

I bought this on the recommendation of a few other Boardsie marathon runners (Peckham, among others), so maybe they can pipe in with their feedback, but for me it doesn't chaff at all. The strap sits across my hips, and the bottle rides above the bum (not at all near the precious goods!). There's a smaller second bottle for your gels (or water), a zipped pocket for phone, a place to hang gloves and the bottle has a nice big loop, so is very easy to grab. The only problem, as others also reported, if you're smaller than a 32 waist it might be a little too big for you.

Damn I thought i had deleted the duplicate, sorry about that ..overexcited at the thought of buying new gear I guess :)
Sounds like it would do the trick, and ehh the 32" waist thing..ain't a problem for me (and probably wont be for a while either !!).
