House of colour - RUBBISH!

Am I alone in thinking that house of colour (on capel street) has gone to the dogs... Im going there 7 years now, paying a lot of money every 6 weeks for my colour and I feel like its going down the drain

Some things which are really annoying me -

    im walking out with roots
they dont give me the colour/cut/blowdry I want
I often have to ask for a drink of water, wine being offered??? nah not in about a year
    No head massages anymore
When your getting your hair washed all the juniors talk over you,
While the actual hairdresser does your hair, they all talk among themselves planning their nights out, asking each other what they want for lunch!!
Staff sooo busy that I often sit there for hours. Once my hairdresser was doing other girls hair while I sat there with wet hair

Now I dont mind that if I am paying cheap prices, but im not.... sorry house of colour, im off to the polish/chinese/local hairdressers......
so girls am I alone in thinkin this? there must be others of you that have been thinking/experiencing this.....

I like House of Colour and I've never had a problem with the way my hair has turned out there.

    Once I didn't get a head massage.

Do you get the same person to do your hair all the time?

Why don't you take your money elsewhere then ? Same as you would if you were unhappy with any other service ?

I mean you wouldn't stay with Sky if their TV reception was constantly cutting in and out so why would you stay with a hairdresser that you're obviously not happy with.

Have you told them your not happy with your hair? Or did you just walk out?

I'm with Orla - have you thought to let them know that you're not happy with the service you're getting?

Also, maybe it is only the one on Capel Street with the problem, the other ones could be fine.

Personally, I go to Cowboys and Angels, and can't fault them at all. Am due for another cut shortly.

I was thinking of making an appointment there actually. How much do they charge for a cut and blowdry to you know?

Last time I was there, it was €70. One person called either Jude or Joan (something like that) wasn't the best, but everyone else I have had have been fab. I found the last time I went didn't cut enoughttp://static.boards.ie/vbulletin/images/smilies/tongue.gifh off, but think it may have been the season with it being December and all :p

    Their website is:

I go to House of Colour on Abbey Street. They always do my highlights really close to the root and offer refreshments- I have been offered wine a couple of times. Plus the staff are grand. It's pricey but if I'm happy then that's all that matters. Also they trim my hair and fringe for no extra cost.

i go to the one on abbey street as well and i lvoe it there. the only thing i would agree with is the juniors talking over me while im getting my hair washed etc - really irritating!
but i do love their cuts, and they always offer at least tea/coffee, sometimes wine (perk!!)

I dont go to House of Colour but ive been getting my hair fully highlighted for years and thought that the pain of the sticky paper strips coming out as the juniors washed my hair in the basin was par for the course....until i had it done recently by the head colourist and it didn't hurt a breeze.

I asked him did the glue strips/packets change or something because there was no pain.....he said the only reason it had hurt all this time was because the juniors hadn't properly soaked the packets:rolleyes:

Next time il be telling them to soak my hair like a flood.

I stopped going to House of Colour because of service I was getting - had been going for 3 years but the last few times I'd gone they were leaving me there for half hr or longer between washing hair and getting blowdry - did my head in. Would be in there for nearly 4 yrs at a time.

I go to Queen on Aungier St now and its much better - friendly staff and there's no hanging around either.

I'm really surprised by this. I started at HOC in Middle Abbey St 10 years ago when they opened and followed my colourist through 3 other branches and have been using Capel St since it opened a couple of years ago.

I have never had an issue with the service though always get my hair coloured by Frieda and cut by Darren who would be the senior staff there so maybe that makes a difference?

I have devised the cunning plan of accepting the offer of coffee and then leave it sitting there intouched (so fresh-looking) because it drives me mad keep being asked if I'd like something to drink! The wine is always free-flowing though I'm normally driving so generally refuse :(

I have only ever had an issue once in all that time and that was with a junior who literally yanked me back into the basin by my hair and then proceeded to bathe me! They apologised profusely, gave me money off my bill and although that was about 6 months ago I actually haven't seen her since :o

I agree with the others in the respect of if you aren't happy take your business elsewhere but I also think that you are doing both yourself and the salon a disservice by not letting them know why they are losing your business...
