Big mistake?

Hi my first time on here.
My older brother was charged with an offence in the circiut court, his solicter said the eveidence against was strong yet circumstansial. He pleaded his innocence fron the start. His trial was on two weeks ago and he pleaded not guilty, however his barrister told him there was a good chance he would be convicted and then he would certainly go to jail. This man had spent his time with my bother ballyragging to plead guilty to the offence instead of working on his defence.
On the morning of the trial he started again he told my brother he could change his plea at any time but if he done it today he would get most likely a suspended sentence. My brother is very quiet and he was absolutley terrified of going to Jail, he finally cracked and changed his plea. His case was put back for sentence. This week his boss told him he would have to let him go and some people blank him on the street. he now bitterly regrets his action.
He now bitterly regrets his plea. Someone told him he should sack his legal team and go to a new solicitor for advice about changing his plea. My mother says to let sleeping dogs lie because his case got no coverage in the press. I think she is right because it could make things worse and cost more money. But he so depressed. We don't know what to do.

if your brother is in anyway guilty, you dont make it too clear then he should get what he deserves.

im sorry for the distress it is causing your family...but your brother ought to be accountable for his own actions.

is the "big mistake" sacking his legal team because they're not helping him get a lienient sentence, or his actions that got him into this in the first place?

I'm not sure if a guilty plea can be withdrawn - you need to get some independent legal advice. Would the citizen's advice people be able to help? Or another solicitor?

Well, the most important question. Is he in fact guilty? As in, do you know that he did it?

If he did, then plead guilty.

If he didn't, then plead not guilty.

If we can avoid giving legal advice here please, and perhaps focus on how the OP can deal with and support her brother.

    Silverfish,

If this is the post you refer to, i dont think it can be defined as legal advice rather as common sense and a bit of honesty.

sorry if this post is unappropriate or insensitive, but i feel it's important to attempt to clarify it.

    thank you

You should not be discussing an on going legal case, it could do your brother damage.
Either way, imo, if he's guilty, he owns up to it and takes it on the chin.
If he's innocent, then he should never have said he was guilty.
