Glossy screens are becoming more and more common and probably even coming as standard. Unfortunately, a lot of people hate them, I would be one of them. There has got to be a cheap, effective way at reducing or removing the glare/reflectivity of these screens. Any one know of any?

Maybe a screen protector of some kind? It worked for my palmtop but I've no clue if there are any solutions for laptops.

The only thing that has stopped me from trying citadel matte varnish (spray can!) is that it would be bloody expensive to break a laptop screen, and it would probably run down into the motherboard and play havoc.

But every sunny day I grow ever more desperate

Youd only really be at risk of shorting the display inverter. If you applied it according to the spray varnish instructions while the screen is laying flat there shouldnt be a problem, just Cover the rest of the laptop in cling film, or else its going to feel grainy till the end of time.

Still, that could work in an unintended way, and really destroy the image quality of the screen - the matting works both ways: it diffuses glare but it also diffues screen output, hence why matte screens looked blurry.

Glossy works great until you expose it to a direct lightsource. If you can keep it out of the sunlight and fix your office lighting (lamp shades, covers, etc) then do.

For anyone who didnt know: the Matte spraypaint Dartz is on about can be bought at the Games Workshop across the river from Forbidden Planet.

While looking for info on the new MacBook Pro I heard about a company in the US who do matte covers for glossy laptop screens.
I'm afraid I can't think of the name though :(
