Golf dreams

Bit of a weird one, but i heard Richard Boxall on Sky today talking about a dream he always has where he's trying to tee off on a hole, but there's a bench in the way and he can't make a backswing. Everyone else in the dream tees off no bother, but no matter where he puts the tee peg down he's either right up against the bench or in front of the markers.

I was kinda spooked as it's a dream i quite often seem to have myself. Only difference is it's trees and bushes in my dream. Does anyone else have these kind of dreams?

I msut look up one of those dream book things and see what it 'means'!

Yes ... had a twist on that dream. Trying to tee of a piece of ground at the back of alleys in something like a south american slum area (go figure)!!!!! Could not get to do it as something or someone interfered at every opportunity. Very strange and agitating dream.

I had a great laugh at that today, I thought I was the only one who had the crazy golf dream.

I start out on a normal tee with a few mates but when it comes to my turn I cant keep the ball on the tee, them when I look up I might be in a room with no roonm to swing then when I go to tee up again the tee is waist high and balancing on top of about 20 unsteady objects below it and everyone is getiing p***ed off waiting on me. This can evolve over what seems like a bout ten minutes with the setting changing alot in one dream. Very weird!!

I thought I was the only one that had these weird dreams.:pac:
In my dream it's trees that are causing an obstruction and even If I move the tees forward or to one side it makes no difference the trees are still in the way of my backswing. Q waking up in cold sweats.

I'd be very interested if anyone can find an explantion.

Have something similar myself too except that I can't get room to tee off as a left-hander but for everyone else it's fine! Weird.

That is ultra freaky. Pardon the pun.

I have had that one too. Numerous attempts at moving the ball and teeing up at different locations in vain. Something impeding with the backswing, not enough room or something in the way. Eventually I end up taking areally steep or adjusted swing just to get something on the ball but I never see the result asthe dream usually tails off at that point.

    Weird!

I have a very similar one. I have a driver in my hand but there isn't nearly enough room on the backswing to hit it. It was only in the last couple of nights I actually became aware of having this dream repeatedly. I have not touched a club in 6 months, about to get back into it, so will be interesting to see if I start to have it more now. If you find out what it means let us know!!

Several of you are describing variations on the same phenomena - dreams mixing with real sensations (where touch, smell, sounds etc, merge with, deflect, and become part of the dream).

Nothing sinister or deep in it.

You are probably having a perfectly normal dream about golf (it being a significant part of your life), but the body sensation of being in bed, wrapped in a duvet, and the feeling of constriction, conflicts with your normal experience of a real free swinging golf shot. And so you end up with the confused feeling that it should feel different, and your dream changes course - "I cant swing" - to try to make sense of it.

I've always felt that golf was created to draw the mentally unstable away from mainstream society for long periods of time. The above dreams are the best evidence to date.
