Heating Installation Quotation

    Hi
My dad is renovating his old 50s bungalow at the moment and he gutted 1800 sq feet of it and built on 700 sq feet of new build. There are wooden floors in the old section and concrete in the new build. He's putting in a new heating system connected to the gas and he got a quote from a plumber for the following:
1 gas fired boiler in the utility
    1 insulated cylinder in utility
17 Barlo round top rads positioned as per drawings
    Separate hot water controls
Living and sleeping areas zoned separately
Gas service to hob and fireplace
    €9600 ex vat

This price does not include sanitary supply or fixing and does not include a new water tank in the attic. This seems like crazy money to me and seems like the plumber is using rates from the heydays of 2006 rather than 2009 figures.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

    looks reasonable to me.
I would get confirmation that you are getting a condensing boiler, water tank doesn't cost much.

Sorry to be a pain in the ass but what is a condensing boiler?

its very hard to tell you if the heating system can be installed for less

without seeing the building and what work is involved, there are a few types of boilers , 900 to 2000 euro and rads plus termo valves can cost
100 to 250 per rad , pm me if you would me to have a look
