Exactly. I'd say if they did ring someone they send 5 letters letting them know first :p

They write and may call if it's ( money owed/estimated) very late. They don't look for permission to call.

could be a scam Id get the police involved also ring the revenue and check it out they will have details of the call on file if it is a scam the fraud squad can trace the number.

It is entirely possible that revenue would call. They don't use blocked numbers and they will identify themselves by name and department.

If it was a blocked number i would say it was a prank for sure.

Hey, I'm self employed and have had a few dealings with the revenue. I have had two phone calls from them over different matters. They called me on private number but did identify what department they were with and who they were. I'd say though that it is unusual for them to call on a Saturday. Next time they call ask for there name and department and call them back.

Phone calls at the moment from banks and anyone else you might be a creditor of are all made from private numbers. They think they're being cute and that you'll pick the call up unwittingly. What they fail to realise is that many people won't answer a call if it comes up "withheld". Lots of calls from withheld numbers never leave a voicemail message which proves the point.

I'd say Revenue will do anything they can these days to bring in as much outstanding cash as possible.
