Stereo wire harness

Anyone know where I could go to get a replacement stereo wire harness fitted in my car? Would a standard mechanic do it, or would I need to go to an electrician?

I would try it myself (also, recommendations for where I could buy one for a 94 VW Polo MkIIF?) but the hack-and-slash job done on it already has left it in a pretty horrible state!

    Thanks for any help!
