Hi, I am trying to create a USB key/CD to use as a virus scanner and malware/spyware removal tool for laptops that would be time consuming to remove the hard drive (eg acer aspire one)

I would like to either use Linux or windows but the programes i would like to use are Malwarebytes and either f-secure/norton/mcafree/kaspersky

i have tried to install malwarebytes once booted into usb linux mint 6 but it always opens to archive manager then get the error message 'An error occurred while loading the archive.)

The file is a .exe file and it also has the same error for Office2003 portable (but im not to surprised about that)

    Can anyone help me.

    Thanks in advance

I'd love to get malware bytes on a bootcd! There was talk of guys getting it working on Hirens boot cd but nothing working yet.
F-secure has a cd. Prity good aswell. Link

I use PortableApps, its completely open source, I've it on a usb key and bring it with me (my own firefox with addons, thunderbird and amsn in my pocket, leaves no traces either).
At the moment there's only ClamWin portable in the virus utilities, but the list of applications is growing quite quickly. Full list of applications here

Thanks PogMoThoin, it looks like it could be usefull, but i have never heard of Clam Anti Virus, is it any good?

I have now since found a CD Bootable version of F-secure which if you have internet connection it can be updated (it did not work with my wireless but did with LAN)

Also i am trying to find a good tech virus scanner malware spyware diag tool that can be used via USB Key (Prefrable) or CD/DVD. As some of the laptops i have to fix have hard drives in the most anoying places and are time consuiming to get to. So instead of removing the hard drive to scan as a slave on our diag system it would be easier and quicker to scan via usb/cd/dvd.
