Cannot turn firewall on - Vista prob I think...?

im trying to turn on my firewall but the comp says it cannot do this, even when i try manually it says it cannot do it. ive scanned the comp and it says that everything is working ok, but it wont allow me to open my '3' internet connection application. any ideas??? thanks.

Antirus? Internet Security suite? They take precedence over Windows firewall.

well i'll try anything to get the internet working again. i've now got AVG on it but it hasnt detected any problems.

i jus dont kno how to fix it...
