    Hi,

Apologies if this is in wrong forum.

Have recently had to wipe my PC due to a windows problem however since the PC has no sound and cant detect the sound card. Any advice on how to fix this?

Also if this would not continue we would have to look at gettin a new computer. Where would you reccommend?

We would be looking at one which could play games but no need for high end computer or monitor as it wouldnt be the priority. What specs should we looka t? Price would be under 500 if it can be helped

Its just missing the sound card driver, try DriverMAX to see if it finds the driver for you, its been reccomended by several people on here

It sounds like you didn't install the correct software drivers for your sound card
after you did the rebuild, simple problem and doesn't merit the purchase of a new machine!.

Do you know how to get into Windows Device manager?.

Try this Getting into Windows Device manager

In device manager you should see a yellow question mark, if you look under the yellow question mark you may see something like multimedia audio controller, which means its not installed properly.

Firstly you need to figure out what type of sound card you have in the machine, go to the vendor website and get the drivers, install them and jobs a goodin.

i was going to post that its a little late now... but its a good idea to get a DRIVERS folder in one of your drives (or on a cd or something) so when you reformat you have everything you need.
dell had it on my system and i couldnt live without it now!
built up everything i need - though used to reformat ever 6months
