2 week holiday questions

I am going on holidays on 28 March to 10 April this year but have to sign on the 31 March.
When do I need to inform the social welfare and do I sign before I go or after?

Do they withhold your money while you're away? (I hope they dont as I need it to pay off a loan by DD)

Also do you have to show a plane ticket or something to them as proof of your holiday? (probably a stupid question!)

    Thanks

You need to give two weeks notice before going away, theyll just get you to sign a form with dates your going to be away and theyll excuse your signing!

Your payments that you wouldnt of been able to collect will be there on your next payment day after your return! Providing you havn't gone over the limit for holidays, which is two weeks per calender year! Anything over that will be stopped!

They might ask for proof of the dates you departed and returned eg. boarding pass! Its up to the person dealing with your claim!

Thanks. I managed to find a post that says you must sign before you go and sign again when you come back - is this true?
Also I get paid into the bank - will my payments be stopped for the 2 weeks?

Again, thats up to the person and office whether youll have to sign on your return, but youll definitley have to sign the holiday form before you go!

Bank payments won't be stopped, so you will still get paid while away!

I went away for a week while on the dole.

You have to fill out a holiday form but if I remember
correctly you are only allowed 12 days max.

They withhold your payments until the collection day soon
after your back and you can collect all the payments you
missed while away at the one time.

    Hello,

I am claiming Job Seekers Allowance and going on my two week holiday on Thursday. I recieve my payment in to my account.

Will I recieve my payment on Thursday as usual?

I kind of need the money for my holiday so I was hoping to get it before I go

I won't miss my signing on date but I won't be around to pick up 2 weeks money at the post office. What happens if I don't collect the money? Can I ask them to hold back the payments 'til I get back with a tan????

 My holiday was booked before I became unemployed and I have scrimped and saved to have enough money for the holiday - no Christmas presents last year in my household and I can't remember the last time I was out for a drink. So yes you can go on holidays but there was a lot of sacrifice.
    Please don't be so begrudging

Just went and filled out the form for heading off on holidays and was surprised at how quick it was. Usually I am in the office queuing for hours whenever I've been in to sort something out before, but just had to say how long your heading off for or if you are going away to represent Ireland in a sporting event or not and that was it. :D

That kind of efficiency makes a pleasant change.

What if your holidays were booked for 4 weeks before you lost job? Will they allow 4 weeks? Will they allow you to go without even getting a dole for these 4 weeks?
