This is a question that always stumps me and my mates in the pub: We have been told that there has been 13 players that played in the Premiership and then went on to play for Real Madrid, we always seem to get no further than 11. Any help here?

    Van Nistelrooy
    Anelka
    Diarra
    Dudek
    Woodgate
    Owen
    Beckham

Came up with the following (with collaboration):

    Lassana Diarra
    Steve McManaman
    Michael Owen
    David Beckham
    Claude Makelele
    Geremi
    Nicolas Anelka
    Fernando Morientes
    Arjen Robben
    Gabriel Heinze
    Ruud Van Nistelrooy
    Jerzy Dudek
    Jonathan Woodgate
    Fernando Hierro
    Ivan Campo
    Jose Reyes
    Baptista
    Antonio Nunez
    Karembeu
    Davor Suker
    Thomas Gravesen
    Arbeloa
    Raul Bravo
    Júlio César (Bolton)
    Robinho
    and perhaps Robert Jarni

    26 enough?

Actually, they all played in the Prem and for Real but not neccessarily in that order...

    New list:

    Lassana Diarra
    Mcmanaman
    Owen
    Beckham
    Anelka
    Robben
    Heinze
    Van Nistelrooy
    Dudek
    Woodgate
    Reyes
    Gravesen
    and Jarni?

    That makes 13

    OK, let's see

Beckham, MacManaman, Robben, Heinze, Gravensen, Anelka, Reyes, Baptista, Diarra, Ruud, Dudek, Xavier,

Alright, I give up, that's all I can get...

    EDIT:
OMFG Can't believe I forgot Woodgate and Owen!!
I remember seeing a rumour thing about Xavier moving to Madrid, so I thought I might throw him in in case he had made a short move there at some point. And thought Baptista may have moved from Sevilla-Arsenal-Madrid
I think Dudek and Gravensen are the players alot of people would forget about

Julien Faubert can be added to the list now.

Laurie Cunningham was an England player who played for Real Madrid in the early 80s - he was killed in a car crash in Madrid as well.

Played against Liverpool in the 1981 European Cup Final.

Most played for big clubs in England.
    Arsenal
    Anelka
    Reyes
    Chelsea
    Robben
    Manchester United
    Beckham
    Van Nistelrooy
    Heinze
    Liverpool
    McManaman
    Dudek
    Michael Owen
    Newcastle United
    Jonathon Woodgate
    Everton
    Gravesen
    Portsmouth
    Diarra

Faubert just joined from West Ham and has just played his first game for them.

I remember Jarni signing for Coventry then Real bought him almost immediately. There was controversy over it as the club that were selling him would not sell to Madrid and this seemed like a deal between Coventry and Real before Coventry bought him. So while he actually was signed to an EPL club he never played here. But then again when you make 1 mill on a player for nothing, I'm sure its a good reason to sell.

So from my reckoning there are now 13 that played in England before playing with Real Madrid, but there was only 12 unless you include Faubert who never played.

    nistelrooy

    diarra

even though i dont think reyes should count as it was only a loan deal .
