Had a discussion with some mates about fruit gums. They seem to be like marmite, people either love them, or hate them with a vengeance.

Personally speaking I like em, mainly cos they are so chewy and it's a battle to finish them :D Others hate them equally for the same reason I like them.

What think ye people of boards?

I hate them. The flavours are gank, they're too hard.

I find the ones in the larger packs to be quite a bit softer than the ones in the tubes

They're awful and I'm always scared they'll pull my teeth/fillings out.

It's like you are tempting fate every time you eat one...

'will it pull out my fillings?
    will it leave them intact?
There better be reds in here!'

It's like the extreme sport of the confectionary world

Nothing worse than getting a pack with no black or red ones :( Happened to me on a few occasions. On the flip side, getting the rare jumbo sized ones is always fun and deciding whether to save it till last or eat it right there and then

Wine Gums > Fruit Gums > Fruit Pastilles

i always preferred fruit gums. there was always a chance of getting lockjaw trying to chew them :)

they used to be available in boxes and they were fruit shaped. I haven't seen those ones in years though.

+1 for the fruit gums!! :)

I love 'em, in fact, I love anything thats fruitty and I can chew on! With the Rowntree fruit gums I like the green ones, they are the strongest flavour I believe. But yeah, any gums, any make, be they Rowntree's finest or Aldi's cheapest I'll gobble them, hard, soft, even American hard gums! Not 'that' big a fan of the fruit pastilles, I dont like all that sugar on them, gets in the way of the fruity goodness underneath! :p

    Just gimme gimme gimme! :D

Those ones were actually much nicer than the tube/packet ones. They were harder and much more chewy.

They were much nicer back about ten years ago.. they were thicker (in the tubes) and *so* much tougher. I remember trying to chew one on the bus back from a school trip to the swimming pool and I only remember it because it took me about ten minutes just to get this one sweet chewed enough to swallow.

    awesome stuff.
