Vienna to Budapest - by Boat?

Hi there. My DH and I have been invited to a wedding in Budapest at end of August. We've been there before but would like to extend our mini holiday by a couple of days beyond the weekend of the wedding, but were thinking maybe somewhere like Vienna and then travelling down to Budapest for the wedding. DH is keen on a boat trip on Danube, but a quick web search only shows 'cruises' of 8-9 days at enormous expense. Has anyone taken a ferry? down river or any other recommendations where we might go with a view to 2 nights somewhere and then travel to budapest. Thanks

    Here's the ferry: http://www.traveltohungary.com/english/sales/sales.php?id=2

I have travelled between Vienna and Bratislava, and not been very impressed. That stretch of the river is not very picturesque. I have read other accounts that suggest that the rest of it is not particularly striking, either. And I write from the point of view of somebody who likes boats and water.
