Meath poker TOURNY MID WEEK

    Hi all...

Am wondering is there a demand in Meath for a poker club to run MIDWEEK TOURNYS... sorry if I am wrong and they already do... :)but to the best of my knowledge they don’t.

    Buy-ins of say maybe 30€ maybe 50 twice a week…

Freeze outs would mean people wouldn’t be afraid of being their till very late so” working in the morning" wouldn’t be a problem? Start at 8/9pm could be over by 1 or earlier...

the clubs have to be staffed mid week ANYWAY...so why not run smaller tournaments and get a cash/and people flow...30 people at 30 euro in,give 900 euro friendly pot :P have a 5euro fee.thats..
150 to house (better then paying dealers to twiddle their thumbs)
not to mention the clubs name increasing. And as a result that 150euro could really be much larger figure..

Other areas have tournaments with 20-35 people playing...nightly...small buyins mid week. Bigger Buyins could be played at weekend....

navan/kells/trim area...i think if i remember correctly damo that u organise a few of the travelling games...these are very good but would be nice to have a club...id set one up myself if i had the money to do so...I dont:pi could hide my idea until i do..but i want to play now;)haha

was in waterfords's blazin aces..part of bigslickevents group....
lots of regulars..friendly atmosphere..no alcohol either..everyones there to play poker and have fun..small buy ins(but enough to make a decent pot) so its played serious but no ones bankroll is at risk...hopefully haha.also lots of satelites to big 1000e plus buyins.and of course a few big buyins durin d week..

navans got a casino..its mainly cash...with one/2 rebuy tournaments...which i think will cost u the guts of 100e??not too sure..I am not too sure what the setup is in drogheda..but its that bit further then kells/nav/trim...im sure these towns are populated enough now to be able to have a lively venue??

Point taken about about having a club or a base. And i agree about the population of your area , but in the current climate it would be just bad business as the money is just not out there, also some people feel intimadated by walking into a club . If you look at dundalk and drogheda and see how the numbers has dwindled away from the main clubs and back to the pub for the social aspect and the smaller buy in's, I think this is where the game is going IMO. If you think the numbers are there in your area for a regular game even 2 nights a week let me know and i will give it a go for ya.

just somethin i thought of...is there laws against advertising poker/gamblin?
I never see is advertising for poker clubs etc...when i mention a club alot of people dont even no it exists..even though its in town centre??

ya valid point about economic down turn..its also true though that people who usually say play2/3 tournaments a night online..say80euro or more..or play cash online..they myt be happy to play once or twice a week live...it gives them their poker fix for the night..they stand to lose say 30/40euro and its more socialable then playin with Dell!lol thats a laptop by the way:P

so any locals think this myt work if some venue decided to gamble and start somethin regular...not much to lose if the casinos/clubs say they are open all night 7days anyway!!payin a dealer or2 is about it...fee should cover or almost cover it...

the poker room ireland are looking in to venues in the navan, trim, summerhill area for pub events for cheap buy-inns were you can also enjoy a drink or two with fully dealer dealt events. i will keep you posted
