I've been asked to source a camera / external flash combination. Requirements:

    * DSLR with kit lens included. 18-55 fine. 18-70 or so better.
    * Compatible external flash capable of TTL or preflash TTL (i.e. no requirement for manual setting); capable of bounce and ideally swivel; ideally reasonably high guide number.
    * Price - as little as possible.
    * Ideally available in a bricks & mortar store in Dublin.

    ...and that's about it.

This will get reasonably frequent use to produce photos for the web and occasional print. We're not looking for a 1D3 here folks. Cheap and cheerful will do.

Pixmania gives me a Pentax k200d kit (€399) + SIGMA EF-530 DG ST Flash (€134) for a total of €533 before postage - or this deal for €541 (k200D kit + EF-530 DG ST Flash + Sandisk Ultra II 4 GB SDHC Memory Card). Can anyone beat this?

    Is recycle time important?

Ideally recycle time would be good but this is not critical.

Dunno what the a200 kit is now but it has wireless flash built in and the 18-70 kit lens. The f58 sony (guide number 58 meters) flash is bout 150 euro, the slightly less powerful f56 is bout 120 euros and, all sony flashes and several minolta can be used wirelessly :-)
