there was a great thread posted once about tweaking your PC to perform as a DAW, the bit im interested in was setting up two profiles, one for DAW one for normal stuff. everything extra was disabled with the DAW profile so it obviously ran smoother. i bookmarked it, i thought, but can't find it. ive searched but having no joy. anyone have it or a link to a similar resource?

Just said id throw this out there..have a look on the cuckos reaper forum for dux's winxp sp3..this dude designs operating systems for a living i think..stripped out everything to get windows running as smooth and as small as possible, with daw work in mind..you need your own non oem cd key, but its decent..

What'll help just as much as those tweaks is having a seperate hardware profile with every unnecessary device disabled - network cards, wireless, bluetooth and especially internal sound cards.
That and installing only your DAW and plugins.
