    Well squires,
Just wonderng what is the going rate for covers bands these days. We have been charging €350 per gig and we provide our own sound. Now that we are a little more established it's time to up the money stakes a little. How much do yiz all charge to do a gig?

you should be charging 500-600 for a pub gig......350 is underselling yourself.

not too many pubs will pay that - unless you're pretty well established and can pull in a guaranteed crowd. standard fees are around 350-450 in my experience (for standard pub bands, not wedding/corporate gigs). as i say, if you can guarantee a packed house then pubs wont have any problem paying you 500-600 euro but you wont get that kind of money unless you do.

Ain't no way are you gonna jump from 350 to the 600 bracket and if you even try it you'll be laughed off the phone. Bar Managers are not thick, bums on seats and till receipts is the only language they understand. You're also approaching this from the wrong angle and at the wrong time, there are already cutbacks being made and you're looking for more money?!

What are you doing differently or offering that justifies the extra bread? Because if you're just the standard 4pc setup you won't ever get out of that price bracket unless you are a helluva crowd puller.

It's a process, it takes time and if you try and make the leap too soon you'll burn bridges and find yourself out in the cold.

well if you are used to asking for 350 in a pub and then suddenly ask for 500 thats different but if you are looking for gigs in a new venue ask first for 500.......we have never done a gig for under 450 and the average we get paid is 550.
