    Hey all,

Looking for a cheap USB connector to link my DS to the 'net. Have a WPA broadband setup and can't change it, so i'd like a USB connector.

Anyone have any suggestions, or used any that have worked? Let me know.

    Oaky.

I bought mine on ebay, a buffalo official one was less than a tenner last year but they seem to have rocketed up in price! I think the non branded wifi usb sticks work ok and there are loads of them for a reasonable price. A lot of Nintendo forums have info on using them.

A good few of the Ralink USB sticks can be put into Soft AP mode and work just fine with the DS (I played Worms and Mario Kart through this and online with a 3 Network E169, dongle to dongle fun). I'm using a Konig branded stick. You could pick them up from Max Burns in Dublin, but I see they've closed down in the last few weeks.

Here's a pic of the dongle, it gets rebranded a lot, as the drivers are just raw, basic Realtek RT73 drivers.

I have a 10 inch aerial screwed into mine, works fine with the PSP, DS, Backtrack 3 etc. Great range.

Sorry for being so clueless, but would you know of any good websites that sell these USB's?

I've been looking online for a good site but i've come up with nothing. Even a reputable ebay shop would do.

Maxburns (Digital Media Direct) in Tallaght do all this stuff at very reasonable cost over the counter.

I got one of these from dealextreme, for about €20 I think. It's working fine, I can communicate with other devices, but I can't get my DS to fully connect with it. The DS finds the wireless (SSID) and signal is excellent, but I then get various errors such as can't get an IP address. My internet connection is set to share, and I've manually assigned and IP address, as well as auto, and I tried with no WEP and WEP key. Tried many other things seen on other forums, but to no avail.

Has anyone come across a good webpage/wiki/faq for setting up a WFC with these 3rd party USB dongles, or have any experience of their own problems and troubleshooting?

I've spend a good few hours trying to get this to work with my DS via PC to an E270 O2 modem, but still no joy. I'm setting up the software to run the USB wifi as an Access Point, and it connects with the DS (had to give it all manual IP/gateway/DNS), but only for a few moments (can see the MAC number coming up on the software). I've trawled through loads of more specific forums, but nothing has been of any help.

Did your setup work straight off, or were there any specific settings you had to change to make it work?
