Imo — VMware. But I haven't used Parallels in ages so I can't really compare them anymore.

I'd also vote for Fusion and it's what I use. There's not much difference between them but one thing I hated in Parallels (may have changed in 4.0) is that when you want to run Windows apps in seamless mode (called "Unity" in Fusion), it also shows the Windows taskbar above your dock, which just seems pointless and ugly - Fusion just shows your application window, almost as if it was a native app...

checkout virtualbox....it's maintained by Sun and it's free. At least worth a play around.

    +1

It's free, so you can see if it suits, and if not, you can pay for one of the others.

The only problem I've had so far is that it won't let XP see the Bluetooth circuit, but it is a known bug, and is being worked on at present. Everything else works well.

+1 also. Ran windows 7 beta in Virtualbox ahead of a proper live install on my home HTPC.

I've been using Parallels Desktop for over 2 years now. Still don't entirely trust it, they seem to have employed some hacks to get Mac OS to let their system do what it needs to do. I could be predjudiced because it used to be less than stable, it is definitely better now. If I was choosing today I'd got for VMWare, there are few complaints about it and I believe the company is great for support (can't say that about Parallels!).

    Hi all,

considering using parallels 4.0. Does this supports the creation of virtual MAC, so OSX or leopard? So basically I want to create 2 or more MACS.

No Mac OS X based VM solution like Parallels or Fusion support virtualization of Mac OS X itself, since this isn't allowed by Apple's own EULA... I think some exceptions may apply to Mac OS X Server, but not retail Mac OS X packages...

I use parallels 4. I find it does the job. It isn't slow and even plays games although I haven't taxed it fully in that regards.

I like the Coherence mode and was the main selling point for me.

+1 for VMware. Their advantage is the many years market experience which is clearly visible in the product (especially in comparison to others). You have to pay for it, but the price is really cheap for the functionality offered.
