Hi guys, im in the final year of my law degree at the moment and considering doing four fe1's in october. I was wondering if you could draw the dole for a few months while studying for these two rounds of exams since you would not "technically" be a student, simply because my parents would not be able to fund me really if i was studying and not working for a few months which i feel i would need to do in order to pass these.

Also saying i did manage to pass them by a stroke of luck, does the higher education grant that i received in college cover the huge blackhall fees or just a little bit of them or would you still get your maintenance grant...not sure how it works.

Just wondering because if it doesnt then i better reconsider my options fairly quickly! i would really appreciate any help!

It depends on your circumstance and your PRSI contributions in the previous years, were you working a part time job or anything? You will be out of college and thus no less entitled than anyone else who is out of work. However, you will equally be no more entitled so need to to check your eligibility re PRSI payments.

Yes you can draw the dole, and yes the grant covers blackhall.
