This is happening to me as well and it's driving me nuts. It usually happens just after launch or whenever I open a new window. I've tried an uninstall/reinstall but no luck. Did you manage to fix yours? Perhaps you could let me know.

    thanks,
    Tom

Make sure that when you click 'Bookmarks' you don't move the mouse down a little bit and release the click when it's over 'Bookmark This Page?'

I thought it might be that at first, but no. It is definitely just a straightforward click on the word 'Bookmarks' which is producing this. :-(

I'm hoping that the original poster will turn up and tell me how he/she fixed it...

I did more searching just now. It is a known bug, one site said try exporting your bookmarks and putting them back in. There are 2 ways, restore and import. I did not try this yet. But another guy said it was due to your bookmarks being too big, and some glitch that if they are going off your page it clicks the first item on the list "bookmark this page".

All I did was make some folders in my bookmarks and dumped some in, note I did not delete any of them (it is not a size issue), I just tidied them up so when I click bookmarks they all appear on screen (I used to have to scroll off screen to see them all). All my unwanted bookmarks might have compounded it, i.e. the list was getting huge since I let them all build up at the bottom.

This has worked so far for me, not unwanted bookmark in a few hours!

I thought it was just me!

I run Firefox on a desktop, laptop and netbook and it's just the netbook I have this issue with. It's not a size issue as I have very few bookmarks on the netbook 10 or 12 max and the list doesn't go off the page. must try the export/import fix suggestion and see how I get on....

Try pressing CTRL + B to open the bookmarks in the sidebar and see if it does the same thing.

Thanks, it seems my bookmarks list was too bloated as well. I've reduced the size and fixed the problem.

    cheers,
    Tom
